Spring 2019 ORC Change of Plans

After completing three successful ORCs in a row, I decided not to finish my spring 2019 project of turning our spare room into a mini photo studio. Why?

My project was progressing well, even though I was waist-deep in final exams. However as I spent more time in the space experimenting and taking photos, I realized that the space is just too small for me to dedicate to that purpose. And if I were to optimize it for photos, we’d have to lose the functionality of it being a guest room. With guests flying in for the wedding this fall, we didn’t want to lose that!

I believe that a good design is one that makes logical sense, and finishing this project just wasn’t making sense to me. Boom! Done.

On the plus side, with the room (mostly) cleared out, I could actually set it up for guests. Here’s how it looks now:

I haven’t decorated it so it’s not going to win any beauty awards… but at least it’s not a storage room anymore! And if a friend needs to crash, they have somewhere safe and comfortable to stay.

As a reminder, here’s how the room started:

I’d say it’s an improvement!

The next One Room Challenge will be this fall, and between school and wedding (eep!) I don’t know if I’ll have time to participate. But come January you can bet that I’ll be cruising friends’ apartments looking for my spring 2020 ORC project!
